In July of 2019, two slightly awkward souls took a chance on OkCupid. Neither of them really expected much—just a drink, maybe a good story to tell a friend. But over a pitcher of margaritas and a plate of nachos, something quietly sweet began.

Their first kiss happened on a Manhattan rooftop, with the Brooklyn Bridge glowing in the background. It felt a little surreal—like something out of a movie, but without the dramatic soundtrack. Just two people, figuring it out, trying not to smile too much.

Soon, they were spending more and more time together. Then came the pandemic, and with it, a crash course in togetherness—every day, all day, in one small studio apartment. Somehow, instead of driving each other crazy, it made their connection stronger (though there were a few walks just for “fresh air”).

Eventually, they packed up their little life—along with their lil pooper, Cooper—and drove (yes, drove) west to Denver, chasing quieter mornings and bigger skies.

And then, one evening in Florida, on a rooftop in Tampa, he got nervous, she got teary, and he asked her to stay with him forever. She said yes. And just like that, the simple story they never saw coming turned into their favorite one.
